Habits of the Humble 1

Welcome to Impact University.

The Lord is working in your life daily.  Every day He is opening your eyes to see His ways. He is opening your ears to hear His voice.  He is opening your mind to dream HIS dreams for you.

It is God’s desire to promote you, to cause you to ascend higher. However, you must descend before you ascend.

Jesus is our example of humility.

I want to share with you some habits of Humility. Even if you think you’re humble, or already walking in humility, these are habits we all practice every day.

The humble Wait Patiently for the Due Time of Promotion.

Wait on the Lord, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.”

Psalm 37:34

Those who wait on the Lord will inherit the land in due time. The land can be a symbol of blessing and promotion.

The meek shall inherit the earth…”

Ps. 37:11

The land is inherited through promotion and exaltation.

Patience is connected to humility.

I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.”

Psalm 40:1

The humble wait on God’s timing and season.

The humble rest and wait and do not fret because of evildoers.

The humble Wait for God’s Salvation and Promotion they wait for the due time.

Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation.”

Psalm 62:1

There are people who become discouraged because they are depending on people to promote them. Some do all they can to get people to promote them. God can use people, but your promotion is not dependent on man. Many become impatient and have a difficult time waiting.

The Humble Depend on God and Trust Him and because promotion comes from God alone.

My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.”

Psalm 62:5

God can pull things out of His proverbial hat for you anytime He wants to:

• He can give you your next opportunity.

  • He can move you into a new level of responsibility or influence.
  • He can open doors for you that no man can shut, and He can shut doors that no man can open.
  • He doesn’t need anybody else’s permission, or any favorable circumstances, to promote you.
  • He doesn’t need you to have a specific bank account balance.
  • He doesn’t need you to be related to the right people.
  • He doesn’t need a degree behind your name.

Your promotion is completely up to God. Of course, you do have to obey His Word and seek Him first.

The Humble Trust God

Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.”

Psalm 37:3

The Humble Trust in God’s Faithfulness and Timing

You must resist the temptation to depend on the flesh. God is committed to abasing the proud, and exalting the humble. The humble do not fret when they see the wicked prospering.

The humble are patient until God acts.

Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. “

Psalm 37:5

The Humble Know Their Help and Strength Comes from the Lord

Trusting in man will bring disappointment. God is your source. You cannot depend on the weakness of the flesh. The humble trusts in God’s timing, strength, salvation, protection, wisdom, grace, favor, and promotion.

My times are in thy hand… “

Psalm 31:15

Other translations say, “my future is in your hand.”

The Passion Translation says: “My life, my every moment, my destiny—it’s all in your hands.”

The Humble Depend on God’s Timing They wait for the due time.

I want to challenge you to  live fully surrendered to Him and trust the Lord for all of the plans for your life. Your due season will come in His perfect timing. Trust Him to open doors as He leads. The Lord will release grace to navigate the pathway that He has you on.

Surrender to the Lord, all your plans and anxieties about your future.  In Jesus name, I bind and break discouragement and impatience. I bind and break self-reliance and pride off of your life. I break all spirits of the enemy that would entangle or distract you, and I decree that you are fully surrendered and resting in His promises for your life.

Now take a moment to thank God and express gratitude for the way He has led you thusfar.  He has clothed you in humility and He has great plans for your life.  Trust Him, He will not let you down.
