Hidden things revealed

Hidden things revealed 1

Welcome to Impact University.

Have you ever wonder why you don’t see certain things that you think you should have known when they happen. The Lord sometimes hides things from you.

The Bible says the secret things belong to the Lord, so the Lord does have secrets.

The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law. “

Deut. 29:29

Let’s look at the scripture in 2 Kings 4.  There is powerful story here starting in verse 8 about a woman that honored Elisha by making room for him during his visits to the area.

Then the woman said to her husband, “Behold, now I know that the one who often comes our way is a holy man of God.  Please let us make a small room upstairs and put in it a bed, a table, a chair, and a lamp for him. Then when he comes to us, he can stay there.”

2 Kings 4:9-10

The Shunammite woman had made a place for Elisha to stay.  She had made a prophet’s quarter.  A place set aside just for him to come and rest as he was going back and forth on his journey.

Elisha wanted to bless her.  He asks her, what can I do for you?

One day Elisha came to visit and went to his upper room to lie down.  And he said to Gehazi his servant, “Call the Shunammite woman.” And when he had called her, she stood before him, and Elisha said to Gehazi, “Now tell her, ‘Look, you have gone to all this trouble for us. What can we do for you? Can we speak on your behalf to the king or the commander of the army?’ ”

2 Kings 4:11-13

She said she really didn’t need anything.  In verse 16, Elisha prophesied she would have a son.  Since she was older, she was shocked.

The principle here is when you bless prophets of God, then God releases blessings your life.  This is found in Matthew 10:41

The one who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward,

The Lord rewards the honor that you give those who serve him.

The Lord rewarded the Shunammite with a son.  As her child grew, this mom nurtured, loved and cared for her son.   Then the son dies of a sunstroke. This woman was upset, she was in despair. She goes and finds the prophet. She says, I didn’t ask you for a son, and now he’s dead.

So she set out and went to the man of God at Mount Carmel.  When the man of God saw her at a distance, he said to his servant Gehazi, “Look, there is the Shunammite woman.  Please run out now to meet her and ask, ‘Are you all right? Is your husband all right? Is your child all right?’ ” And she answered, “Everything is all right.” When she reached the man of God at the mountain, she clung to his feet. Gehazi came over to push her away, but the man of God said, “Leave her alone, for her soul is in deep distress, and the LORD has hidden it from me and has not told me.”

2 Kings 4:25-27

The prophet knew there was something wrong with her.  Elisha went into the house, he could tell her soul is vexed.  He realizes that the Lord had hid this from him, He did not reveal to Elisha that the son would die.

What do you if you are a prophetic person, or prophet, how do you respond when the Lord hides things from you?

Just because you are prophetic does not mean the Lord will reveal ALL things to you about an individual or about a particular situation. You may have to inquire if someone comes to you for counsel.  You may have to ask- what is going on?

Some people think that prophets know everything, that prophets see everything, but they don’t.

  • You have to walk by faith.
  • You have to live by faith.
  • You have to trust God.
  • You have to search out a matter.

In verse 35, one of Elisha’s greatest miracles happened — even though this was hidden from Him.

I know we want to know everything, but there are reasons why God hides things from us.  Sometimes simply, we don’t need to know.   We don’t have to know.

You have not lost your anointing, don’t think the Lord has left you or stopped talking to you just because you don’t always hear from Him or know everything that is going on.

You cannot force revelation.
He has a right to hide things and also to reveal things to you.

Fast and pray and He will reveal things to you.

It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.”

Proverbs 25:2

Understand that other aspect of His nature, He does keep things from us.  Some things we won’t know until we get to heaven.

Allow God to speak to you in different ways. Be encouraged, be open to revelation, be open to the voice of God.
