Get ready to receive the strength of the Lord. You are a mighty in God!
You will advance in victory with the power of the Holy Spirit who is in you.
The Holy Spirit is a spirit of MIGHT. Those who have received the Holy Spirit can operate in the spirit of MIGHT. The spirit of MIGHT is not human MIGHT or strength, but the MIGHT that comes from the Holy Spirit.
MIGHT is force.
Force is strength or energy as an attribute of physical action or movement. Synonyms for force include strength, power, energy, might, potency, vigor, muscle, stamina, effort, exertion, impact, pressure, weight, impetus, and punch. Forces is connected to strength and MIGHT.
Who is the King of glory? The Lord strong and MIGHTY (Gibbor), The Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O gates, And lift them up, O ancient doors, That the King of glory may come in! Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory. Selah.” Psalm 24:8-10
Strength here is the Hebrew word chayil meaning a force, whether of men, means or other resources, an army, wealth, virtue, valor, strength: able, activity, army,
band of men (soldiers), company, (great) forces, goods, host, might, power, riches, strength, strong, substance, train, valiant, valour, virtuous, war, worthy. Chayil is
translated as forces in Isaiah 60:5,11. This word applies to military might as seen in the term “armed forces.”
- There is MIGHT to effectively wage war and win!
- God did not destine His people to lose or to be ineffective.
- The spirit of MIGHT equips God’s people for victory and secures their advance.
He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.” Psalm 18:34
Kings were known for their MIGHT. Kings were known for their armies and their ability to fight. David was known for his MIGHT, and his mighty men. They were able to win wars, take territories and protect Israel.
These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he lifts up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time. And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away:”
2 Samuel 23:8-9
And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: nevertheless, he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the Lord.” 2 Samuel 23:16
These mighty men did great exploits.
The spirit of MIGHT that was upon David, was also upon these mighty men.
The spirit of MIGHT is the strength of the Lord. It is not human strength, but the strength given by the Spirit of God. This strength was his fortress and protection.
This MIGHT was the key to David’s victories.
Jehoshaphat was also known for his MIGHT.
Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, and his might that he shewed, and how he warred, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? ” 1 Kings 22:45
Jehu was known for his MIGHT.
Jehu was the king that challenged Jezebel and had her thrown from the window. It takes MIGHT to defeat and destroy Jezebel. Now the rest of the acts of Jehu, and all that he did, and all his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?” 2 Kings 10:34
Hezekiah was known for his MIGHT.
And the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and all his might, and how he made a pool, and a conduit, and brought water into the city, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?” 2 Kings 20:20
I cannot overemphasize the importance of faith and the spirit of MIGHT.
Wait upon the Lord and renew your strength (MIGHT). Strength and MIGHT are the antidote for weariness and tiredness. Wait is the Hebrew word qavah meaning to bind together (perhaps by twisting), collect, (figuratively) to expect, gather (together), look, patiently, tarry, wait.
We can receive the spirit of MIGHT through gathering and waiting for and expecting the Lord’s power.
To wait also means to linger. There are times that we need to linger in the presence of the Lord. We wait in faith with expectation of the Lord’s MIGHT and power. Wait also means to be strong, robust (from the notion of binding fast).
Today take some time to meditate on this word. Wait on the Lord and stay in His presence. The Holy Spirit will come upon you and release a fresh strength upon you. He will advance you in His MIGHT.
