Transition will bring transformation 1

Welcome to Impact University!

The Lord is committed to your growth and transformation.  This part of your journey may require transition, a migration, a change that will bring you to a new place of breakthrough.  Trust me, this transition will bring transformation in your life.  God wants to move you to a new place of growth. We are all being transformed into the image of God. He is the one that will lead you every step of the way.

All of us are on a journey.

There are some truths and blessings that come with transition and migration.

  • You will have a revelation.
  • You will have a choice.
  • You can either remain stuck in a place spiritually.
  • You will have to wrestle or battle.
  • You will have to decide to leave your current situation or circumstances.
  • You will be transformed into something better.

Today let’s look at Jacob’s Migrations.

Jacob’s life was characterized by migration. Jacob migrated when he was a young man, and then migrated when he was old.

And Isaac sent away Jacob: and he went to Padanaram unto Laban, son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebekah, Jacob’s and Esau’s mother.”

Genesis 28:5

Jacob was sent to Laban to find a wife. On his way to Laban he came to Bethel. He dreamed a dream of angels ascending and descending upon a stairway.

God revealed himself to Jacob, and his life was dramatically changed.

And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the Lord is in this place; and I knew it not. And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.”

Genesis 28:11-17

Jacob migrated to the place where Abraham had built an altar.

God visited Jacob in a dream.
God promised to keep him in all of his journeys.

What a powerful promise!

  • Bethel is the house of God.
  • Your migration is connected to the house of God.
  • God will bring you to a house of HIS presence when you are migrating.

Jacob would later build a pillar at Bethel after leaving Laban (Gen. 35:14-15). Laban would take advantage of Jacob, and Jacob would eventually flee and return home. Jacob describes his migrations in these terms. Jacob leaves with his wife and children. He begins his migration home. He now has to encounter his brother Esau.

Then he encounters an angel and his life is changed. He wrestles with this angel and demands a blessing. Jacob’s name is changed to Israel.

And he took them, and sent them over the brook, and sent over that he had. And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day. And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me. And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob. And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.”

Genesis 32:23-28

Jacob was transformed. Jacob was changed. His migration brought a breakthrough. This did not happen until he decided to leave Laban. You must leave a Laban. Laban was a trickster. Laban was a user and a manipulator. Laban was a liar and a deceiver.

Your migrations will change you.

God can even give you a new name (Isa.62:2). God protected Jacob in his migrations. God brought Jacob out with much substance. God blessed Jacob in his migrations. God then changed the heart of Esau. Esau met Jacob and kissed him and wept.

And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept.”

Genesis 33:4

Jacob and his sons would eventually migrate into Egypt to be with Joseph. He migrated because of drought and famine. He went with his family to the land of Goshen.

Sometimes a crisis will force you to migrate.  I want to encourage you to obey the Lord in your transitions.  Even if it feels like you are wrestling.

  • You will get the breakthrough.
  • You will be transformed.
  • You will be delivered from those that lie and deceive you.
  • You will get a new name.
  • You will have encounters with God.
  • You will come into a house of HIS presence and blessings.

Remember, the Lord is going to see you through every part of your journey.  Trust Him today.  He is faithful!  You will overcome and receive a mighty blessing.
